Questions Before You Begin
The general minimum age requirement for Captain K9 Obedience Training is 8 months. For younger dogs, explore Captain K9’s Puppy Training.
Basic Obedience establishes communication, engagement, leash handling, positioning, structured heeling, rewards and corrections, stay exercises, and core commands. Advanced Obedience w/Foundation builds toward off-leash reliability, recall, structured heeling, responsible E-Collar conditioning, and control around distractions.
The Obedience Training Intake accommodates dogs with no formal training as well as dogs with puppy classes, group lessons, private instruction, or other experience. Captain K9 reviews that history to understand the appropriate starting point.
Captain K9 offers a 6-session Basic Obedience Group Class, 6-session Basic Obedience Private In-School program, and 8-session Advanced Obedience w/Foundation program.
The existing Captain K9 Obedience curriculum lists Place, Watch Me, Sit, Down, Stay, Heel, and OK as the release command.
The curriculum includes stay exercises with distractions and attractions. The current Obedience Training Intake asks about overall obedience reliability and includes 1–10 ratings for Sit / Stay, Down / Stay, Heel, and Toy Drive so Captain K9 can understand your dog’s current skills.
The Obedience Training Intake includes behaviour and safety questions so Captain K9 can determine whether obedience training is the right next step or whether Behaviour & Reactivity training may be safer.
